OH MY. Song choice = perfect. Timing = perfect. Did you do the mixing yourself or nick someone else's medley? The sound's a bit... weird. Did you speed up a lot of the songs?

Somehow I had completely forgotten the existence of the Merlin-Gwen subtext, and now need to go back and watch them be dorks. And look at Morgana's pretty hair. This was fantastic (although I will never look at Uther and Gaius the same way again)

Merlin and Gwen are adorkable together. If it weren't for the fact that Merlin and Arthur are Destined To Be Together and also fantastically pretty and just ... perfect, then I would totally ship Merlin/Gwen.

I didn't *want* Uther/Gaius to be there, I wanted it to just be the main foursome, but 'It Must Have Been Love' only worked for Uther and Gaius ...

I've played the character interaction pretty straight. No fancy cutting required to set up meaningful glances here!

The two pairings being obviously and deliberately set up by the Beeb during the first season are Morgana/Arthur (the first couple - blond dude and pale brunette lady) and Merlin/Gwen (lanky dark-haired guy and black girl), but History tells us that there's going to be Arthur/Gwen (=Guinevere), so they also put a hefty dollop of tension between those two in there, and Morgana/Merlin you get because both of them have tendencies towards smouldering looks, and because they agree with each other on a lot of issues.

Merlin/Arthur isn't even *implied* - I mean, people keep telling them that they're meant to be together and that they need each other and that they're two sides of the same coin (direct, oft-repeated quote) - and the way they LOOK at each other. I once saw someone describe it as 'no subtext, just eyesex all the time'.

Uther/Gaius (short-haired old guy with crown and long-haired old guy in bitchin' robes) you need strongers slashgoggles to see, but they are totally exes. Srsly.

*laughs* If you say so. Honestly, I was seeing glimpses of the Pevensies - the blonde guy, the dark haired girl, the dark haired guy and the younger-looking girl. Creepy.

And I was wondering who the older men were. Cheers for that. :)

Oh, well, the only relationship between any of them that is creepy is that Arthur and Morgana are foster-siblings. Other than that, no relations, so not creepy, I promise.

Uther is Arthur's dad, and current King of Camelot, if that helps. And Gaius is Merlin's sort of mentor-dude and the Court Physician.

I know! And I didn't even work in the infamous up-down-up eyeflick Merlin gives Arthur when the former is all wrapped up in a blanket and looking adorably vulnerable and thanking the latter for saving his life ... it totally says 'and would you like my thanks to be ... horizontal ... sire?'
